2008 Laser Masters
North American Championships
August 15-17, 2008
The Columbia Gorge Racing Association is pleased to welcome the Laser Masters to
the Columbia River Gorge for the 2008 North American Championships. If you've never been
to the Gorge you are in for a treat! For official information about
the regatta, please see the
Notice of Race.
Eligibility
The competition is open to Laser
sailors ages 35 and up, who will compete in the following categories:

Apprentice: 35-44
years of age

Master: 45-54 years
of age
-
Grand Master: 55-64
years of age
-
Great Grand Master:
65+ years of age
Skippers must achieve the proper age by regatta start date.
Rig Swapping
Masters of any age may swap rigs [i.e., Radial to Full
Rig and back] at any time throughout the event, provided that all
rig swapping is done on shore and all sails have the same sail number.

The Columbia River Gorge at Cascade Locks, OR
Scoring
The Low Point Scoring System, Appendix A4, will be used except as modified
below. 12 races are scheduled; a minimum of 3 races must be completed to
constitute a regatta. When 5 or more races are completed, sailors may discard
their worst score. When 10 or more races are completed sailors may discard
their worst two scores.
NA Master handicap system will be in place. The following points will be added to each
competitor's individual race scores to determine the overall series winner:
Results are recalculated and the person with the lowest score wins, etc.
Fees
Entry fee:
$100.00
US Sailing Member: $5.00

Late registration fee: $25.00 charged after August 1, 2008
The entry fee includes refreshments after racing each race day, a barbecue
dinner on Saturday night and a regatta souvenir.

Charters
Charter boats are available through
West Coast Sailing. New charter
boats (inc. spars and blades) are available for $150 per day or $550 for a 4-day
package (come early and join us for the infamous
Gorge Blowout, Thursday Aug. 14).
Some used charter boats may be available (inquire with George at West Coast
Sailing if interested).
Visitor Information
Cascade Locks is located in the
heart of the beautiful Columbia River Gorge, 45 minutes east of Portland
International Airport on Interstate 84. Cascade Locks and surrounding
communities have a wide range of accommodations from camping to four-star resort
hotels (see visitor information).
