Rainier Cup Collegiate Regatta

April 18-19, 2009

The Columbia Gorge Racing Association and Oregon State University are pleased to welcome collegiate sailors of the Northwest Intercollegiate Sailing Association to Cascade Locks for the 2009 Rainier Cup. The information below will serve as the official Notice of Race:

General Information

Rainier Cup will be hosted by CGRA and the Oregon State University Sailing Team and will be sailed on the Columbia River at Cascade Locks, OR.

9:30 am Skipper's Meeting
10:30 am First Race
6:00 pm Regatta Barbeque

 

Sunday, April 19
9:00 am Report Time
10:00 am First start of the day
3:00  pm Races will not be started after this time

Rules

The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS), (except as any of these are altered by the Sailing Instructions or ICSA Procedural Rules), by the Sailing Instructions, and ICSA Procedural Rules. All competitors are required to wear a life jacket while racing in accordance with ICSA PR 9(c).

Format

The regatta will be a rotational regatta.  There will be separate starts for the Varsity and JV fleets. Standard three-minute starts will be used. Races will be run on short courses (15-20 minutes in length).  We will sail as many races as possible.

Entries

Each team is allowed one coed and one women’s varsity team.  Please remember to bring pennies for your varsity teams.  There are unlimited berths for JV teams allowed at the regatta.  The entry fee for this regatta will be $20 per team entered in the regatta.  This includes the barbecue on Saturday. Only one check or exact cash per team will be accepted. Please e-mail Russell Burke, burkeru@onid.orst.edu by April 5th to confirm how many teams and people you will have at the regatta so that we can plan how much food we need for the regatta.

Boats

The regatta will be sailed in CFJs.  Boats will be provided to out of district teams, if you would like to charter a boat please contact Russell Burke, burkeru@onid.orst.edu at least two weeks prior to the regatta.

Housing

Competitors should plan to stay at the Port of Cascade Locks Marine Park. It is first come first serve camping.
